FAQS – DIE WICHTIGSTEN FRAGEN ZU SILIKONÖLEN

Standard defoamers do not provide the required foam control in every process. Application-specific silicone defoamers are specifically developed to match the operating conditions and media of each application. By optimizing factors such as active ingredient content, silicone system, emulsification, dosing behavior, temperature resistance, and long-term performance, foam-related issues can be reduced sustainably while improving overall process efficiency.

Yes. We develop and manufacture application-specific silicone defoamers for a wide range of industrial applications.

Depending on the application, we can tailor properties such as:

  • Defoaming performance
  • Long-term foam control
  • Active ingredient content
  • Emulsion stability
  • Temperature resistance
  • pH resistance
  • Dosing behavior
  • Media compatibility
  • Food-grade compliance or other industry-specific approvals

Yes. We support companies with:

  • Product optimization
  • Reformulation
  • Supplier replacement
  • Improved defoaming performance
  • Reduced product consumption
  • Adaptation to regulatory requirements
  • Cost optimization

Our goal is to improve both process reliability and cost efficiency.

Silicone defoamers are among the most effective foam control systems and offer a range of advantages, including:

  • Rapid foam knockdown
  • Long-lasting foam suppression
  • High efficiency at low dosage levels
  • Excellent temperature resistance
  • High chemical stability
  • Effective performance in aqueous systems
  • High process reliability
  • Broad application range

Silicone-based defoamers are widely used because silicones have an exceptionally low surface tension, enabling them to efficiently destabilize and eliminate foam.

We offer silicone defoamers in a variety of concentrations and formulations to meet different application requirements.

Depending on the application, available options include:

  • Silicone emulsion defoamers
  • Silicone-based defoamer concentrates
  • Silicone-containing compounds
  • Customized specialty formulations

The optimal concentration depends on the process medium, dosing requirements, and operating conditions.

Silicone defoamers are characterized by excellent thermal stability and are widely used in processes involving elevated temperatures.

Depending on the formulation, they can provide reliable foam control even under demanding thermal conditions. The most suitable product is selected based on the specific requirements of the application.

Many silicone defoamers offer high resistance to:

  • Acids
  • Alkalis
  • Salts
  • Oxidation
  • Moisture
  • A wide range of process chemicals

The actual chemical resistance depends on the specific medium and the prevailing process conditions.

Our silicone defoamers are used across a wide range of industries, including:

  • Water and wastewater treatment
  • Pulp and paper industry
  • Chemical industry
  • Paints and coatings industry
  • Construction chemicals
  • Textile industry
  • Food industry
  • Fermentation and biotechnology
  • Metal processing
  • Plastics industry

Silicone defoamers are among the most widely used foam control systems in industrial processes.

Silicone defoamers are used wherever unwanted foam formation interferes with industrial processes.

Typical applications include:

  • Process water treatment
  • Industrial cleaning systems
  • Fermentation processes
  • Paper manufacturing
  • Paints and coatings
  • Adhesives
  • Inks and printing inks
  • Textile finishing
  • Wastewater treatment

In water and wastewater treatment, silicone defoamers are used to quickly and effectively reduce unwanted foam formation and provide long-lasting foam control.

Typical application areas include:

  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Industrial wastewater systems
  • Process water applications
  • Cooling systems
  • Recirculating water systems

In these applications, rapid defoaming, long-lasting performance, and compatibility with the process medium are particularly important.

Specialized silicone defoamers are used in paints, inks, and coatings to reduce foam formation during manufacturing, filling, and application processes.

Typical benefits include:

  • Improved surface quality
  • Prevention of cratering and surface defects
  • Reduced air entrapment
  • Increased process reliability
  • Improved processability

The selection of the appropriate defoamer depends on the specific binder system and formulation.
